Foi neste contexto que intelectuais e políticos defenderam a educação das crianças e a generalização da instrução pública primária, considerando-as como as medidas mais adequadas à formação da nação brasileira.

Já no alvorecer do século XIX, o desejo de civilizar e formar o cidadão trabalhador motivara a elaboração de dispositivos legais voltados à organização e ampliação do serviço de instrução pública. Para tanto, recorri a um grande número de documentos produzidos por presidentes de província, bem como pela Assembleia Legislativa e pelas autoridades responsáveis pela fiscalização das escolas primárias mineiras. Neste artigo dedico-me ao estudo das relações estabelecidas entre pais de família, professores primários e autoridades locais em Minas Gerais, nas primeiras décadas do século XIX. The factors associated to weight excess were: per capita income above half minimum wage (OR 1.99 95%CI 1.01-3.93), candy consumption above two daily portions (OR 1.94 95%CI 1.13-3.32) and absence of sport activity during leisure time (OR 2.54 95%CI 1.15-5.59).CONCLUSIONS: The proportion of weight excess in adolescents from public schools is relevant and associated with socioeconomic condition of the family, bad eating habits and sedentary life. Factors associated to weight excess were assessed by bivariate analysis followed by logistic regression.RESULTS: Weight excess prevalence was detected in 18.5% of the 535 adolescents evaluated. The nutritional status was evaluated and an inquiry was carried out in the schools to determine food consumption and practice of physical activities.

OBJECTIVE: In order to support plans and actions that combat the local increasing overweight and obesity prevalence in adolescents, the factors associated to weight excess in public school students from Montes Claros, MG, Southeast Brazil, were studied.METHODS: Cross-sectional study with a sample of adolescents from the public schools of the city. The largest number of schools were located in metropolitan regions with better socioeconomic indicators The number of annual vacancies the dentistry courses offered the 2.911 vacancies in the Minas Gerais state that 2.310 are in private schools and 601 in public courses.Conclusion: The distribution of courses were irregular and concentrated in regions with better socioeconomic conditions. Results: In Minas Gerais were found 30 Dentistry schools that 23 (76.66%) were private and 7 (23.34%) public. All the institutions addresses were geocoded and mapped to illustrate the spatial distribution of dental courses across Minas Gerais state. The analysis of the courses distribution was carried out by regions and cities and categorized by public or private schools. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study. Aim: To analyze the distribution of dentistry schools in Minas Gerais state in 2016. Introduction: The geographical distribution of dentistry schools has been the object of study in Brazil and in other parts of the world.
