And when she’s on the phone with Star, Janna’s always attentive and supportive. But really? Janna’s usually extremely fascinated with all this stuff. Oh wait, Janna says she was getting bored. I mean…okay, Star’s going on and on about what’s been happening, and Janna’s acting all chill and getting bored. Not like it was with Jackie…she saw how that ended up. She doesn’t want to just have some sort of frustrating half-way relationship with Marco. I headcanon that this is what Janna’s afraid of. All she knows for sure is that she’s sick of sharing Marco’s time and attention with Princess Star Butterfly. I think Hekapoo’s too emotionally caught up in it to discern whether Marco’s doing this on purpose or that Marco’s too confused himself to even realize what he’s been doing. Is he or is he not flirting with her? Is he or is he not trying to get over Star? She can’t stand the mixed signals she’s getting from Marco. And Marco still has to hurry off to get back to Star? Seriously? By now, it’s obvious to Hekapoo that Marco’s not in it for her. I mean…like really? It would have cost like 15 seconds of Mewni time for hot Marco to have stuck around to give Hekapoo the real date she wanted. When Hekapoo wants to hang out together after? Marco hurries back to Star. It seems Marco’s only in it for the adventures. And Hekapoo? I’m guessing she was thrilled also, at first.īut by the time we see them, Hekapoo’s frustrated and mostly cold to Marco. Marco’s thrilled to have a sense of purpose again. How would that have gone down? Oh yeah, Marco’s going to have subconsciously started hitting on Hekapoo. And hoo hoo, that someone is Marco’s hot sorta ex.
Marco, aimless and purposeless and down in the dumps, is actually needed by someone on Mewni. Reading between the lines, Marco had been struggling to find a purpose for himself in Mewni…his “squire” job’s a sham, and Star has a boyfriend so … what is he doing again? Marco’s about as low as he can get… and then Hekapoo shows up. It really messes her up with Marco sort of dangling himself out there, but then he’s also constantly hurrying back to Star. See, Hekapoo’s more emotionally invested in Marco than Kelly is, due to all the years they spent (sorta) together. We only see Marco’s rebound relationship with Hekapoo after it’s already near the breaking point. Neither is looking for a real relationship, and they both know it. A little rebound flirting between Marco and Kelly is healthy for both of them. It’s not like she’s deeply invested in Marco or anything, it’s just feels nice to have some attention. She could use some rebound flirting herself. It’s different with Kelly, since she’s also emotionally reaching out for a rebound. Marco’s probably not even consciously aware of the vibes he’s sending out, but Janna would definitely see it. He’s also just had a breakup, so he’s emotionally reaching out for a rebound. He’s emotionally confused since he’s obviously got it bad for Star but Star’s got a boyfriend now. So Janna avoids the awkwardness and the problem and just hypno-sleeps him instead.Īnd Janna knows where Marco is mentally. Obviously, Janna’s okay with blowing into Marco’s hair when it’s casual (to her), but Janna’s not mentally prepared for something more serious. How’s that going to work out? Awkward! Marco’s already starting off real awkward and it’s just going to get worse. They’re not truly alone, Star’s right there in front of them in the mirror. Marco’s starts to hit on Janna, sure, but look at the circumstances. So, she doesn’t want to mess up her chance with him, as if that’ll ever happen. I headcanon that Janna’s been obsessed with Marco for as long as he was obsessed with Jackie. But then…she does check out Marco’s butt before seemingly ignoring him, so… I’m also one sided Janco trash, though, so I was disappointed that Janna hypno-slept Marco rather than take the chance to hang out with him alone.
